חובה גדולה ניצבת לפתחה של הישיבה הסביבתית: לפתח את חדוות הדעת והידיעה של תלמידיה בתחומי הבריאה השונים. לכך מוקדשים שעות תיכון רבות (ובתוכן בגרות מורחבת באקולוגיה- מדעי הסביבה) אך בעיקר מערך מפותח, ארבע שנתי, של סיורים וסדנאות שטח רגיונליות.

תוכנית הסיורים שלנו הינה המורחבת והמעמיקה ביותר הקיימת היום לתלמידי תיכון בישראל והיא כוללת בנוסף לסיורי שטח מעמיקים גם לימוד מקדים בכיתה אודות ההיסטוריה, הארכיאולוגיה, המורשת, והחיבור לערכי ארץ-ישראל. הסיורים מתקיימים בימי ו' ועוסקים בכל תחומי השדה: מדעי כדור הארץ, מדעי החי (צומח וחי), היסטוריה, ארכיאולוגיה, אקולוגיה, תנ"ך וספרות חז"ל באספקלריית הטבע והנוף של ארץ ישראל. הסיורים עוסקים בנוסף במגוון נושאים רחב הקשורים לחברה בישראל על כל גווניה, וכן סיורים לעיצוב המידות והאישיות.

תוכנית הסיורים כוללת: סיורי אקולוגיה ואיכות הסביבה (11 סיורים); סיורי מועדי ישראל (4 בכל שנה); סיורי הנושא השנתי (2-4 בכל שנה); סיורי התערות בסביבה הקרובה (3 סיורים); סיורי מיומנויות שדה (3 בכל שנה); סיורים המותאמים לנושאים מגוונים וסיורים ייחודיים המותאמים לשכבות הגיל.

בנוסף לסיורים, אנו מקיימים מערכת ענפה של סדנאות, בכל שנה 2 סדנאות, כאשר משך כל סדנא הוא 6 ימים מלאים, מיום א' לפנות בוקר עד יום ו' בצהרים. כל הלינות בסדנאות הינן לינות שטח. הסדנאות מתנהלות כמסע מתמשך כאשר כל יום מוקדש לאחד או שניים מרבדי הנוף של היחידה הנלמדת.

עבודת חקר והכנה לסיורים ולסדנאות: התלמידים נערכים לסיורים ולסדנאות בשיעורים המוקדשים ללימוד החומר הפדגוגי הרלבנטי לסיור, ובאמצעות חוברות עבודת הכנה לתלמיד הכוללות: יעדי הסיור, פרק שטח ובו הכנת מפה 1:50,000, מקורות היסטוריים, קריאת מאמרים ומענה על שאלות מנחות. התלמידים מגישים את חוברת ההכנה כשבוע לפני הסיור למדריך/המורה המלווה. בנוסף, בחלק מן הסיורים התלמידים מבצעים תרגילי חקר הכרוכים בתצפית, סימון נקודות ציון ע"ג המסלול ולימוד פרקים ספציפיים העוסקים במסלול. בנוסף, התלמידים נבחנים בשאלון המכונה "צ'ק 10" (הנערך אחת ל 10 סיורים), ותכליתו בחינה על כל חומר הסיורים שבוצעו. נדרש ציון סף 60 בכדי לקבל ציון המאפשר את המשך הלימודים בתוכנית הסביבתית.

קמפוס הישיבה נבנה גם הוא מתוך אותה השקפת עולם סביבתית ובכך מביא לידי מימוש את החזון הסביבתי.

 :The Environmental Education

The environmental Yeshiva (Talmudic college) faces a major obligation: to develop and nurture

the joy of knowledge and knowing of its students in the various fields of creation. Numerous

high school hours are devoted to this subject (and within them an extended matriculation in

Ecology – Environmental Science) but particularly a well-developed, four-year array of

excursions and regional field workshops.

Our excursions program is the most extended and thorough program currently existent for

high school students in Israel and it also includes, in addition to in-depth field excursions,

preliminary studies in class regarding the history, archeology, heritage and the connection to the

values of the Land of Israel. The excursions are held on Fridays and they deal with all field

areas: Earth Science, Life Science (Flora and Fauna), History, Archeology, Ecology, the Bible

and Rabbinic (Chazal) Literature mirroring the nature and landscapes of the Land of Israel. The

excursions also deal with a wide variety of topics related to all aspects of society in Israel; as

well as excursions intended for designing and molding characteristics and personalities.

The excursions program includes: ecology and environmental quality excursions (11

excursions), Israeli Holidays excursions (four annually), annual theme excursions (2-4 annually),

immediate vicinity integration excursions (3 excursions), field skills and expertise excursions

(three annually), excursions adapted and suited for diverse topics and unique excursions

tailored according to age levels.

In addition to the excursions, we hold an extensive set of workshops, two workshops annually,

such that each workshop lasts 6 full days, from the early hours of Sunday morning until noon

Friday. All the excursions’ lodgings are in the field (outdoor sleeping). The excursions are

conducted as an ongoing journey where each day is devoted to one or two landscape layers of

the unit being taught.

Research papers and preparation for excursions and workshops: the students are

preparing for the excursions and the workshops by means of lessons devoted to studying the

pedagogical material relevant for the excursions and using preparatory work booklets for

students which include: the excursion’s destinations, a field chapter incorporating the

preparation of a 1:50,000 scale map, historical sources, reading articles and providing

responses to leading questions. The students will submit the preparation workbooks about a

week before the excursions to the accompanying guide/teacher. Additionally, in several

excursions, the students will perform research exercises involving observations, marking

waypoints on the path and studying specific chapters dealing with the track.

Furthermore, the students will be tested using a questionnaire known as “Check 10” (which is

held once every 10 excursions), its purpose being the examination of all the materials delivered

throughout the excursions that were carried out. A threshold score of 60 is required in order to

allow the continuation of studies within the environmental program.

The campus of the Yeshiva was also built from that same environmental world perspective, thus

bringing into realization the environmental vision.
